Aspirus Health is offering a free evening program in Marshfield later this month devoted to atrial fibrillation, the heart rhythm problem known as AFib.
The talk starts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Hotel Marshfield, 2700 S. Central Ave.
Cardiac electrophysiologist Dr. Andrew Mykytsey will present alongside cardiothoracic vascular surgeons Dr. John Johnkoski and Dr. Stephen Thorp, all with Aspirus Health.
The physicians plan to walk through how AFib shows up, what raises a person's risk, the treatment choices available and recent advances in care. There will also be time for attendees to ask questions about looking after their own heart health.
AFib is an irregular, frequently fast heartbeat and is the most common rhythm disorder of its kind. It affects millions of people in the United States, and without treatment it can raise the chances of stroke, heart failure and other heart complications. The program is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.
