Ascension Wisconsin has opened two new pharmacies in Oshkosh, adding prescription options in a period when chain and independent pharmacy closures have reduced choices in many communities.

The Ascension Rx locations are at Ascension NE Wisconsin — Mercy Hospital, 2700 W. Ninth Ave., and at the Ascension NE Wisconsin — Koeller Street clinic, 1855 S. Koeller St. Both are open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and people do not need to be current or former Ascension patients to use them.

Health system leaders said the expansion responds to requests from Oshkosh residents for more pharmacies. Filling a prescription at the same site where a person receives care can also make it easier for pharmacists and clinical teams to coordinate on medication use.

The Mercy Hospital pharmacy will support patients during and after hospital stays as well as serving walk-in customers. That location also takes part in the Dispensary of Hope program, which provides free prescriptions to uninsured patients who have difficulty paying for them.

With the Oshkosh openings, Ascension Rx now has 13 sites in Wisconsin. Prescriptions are available in store, and the system also offers home delivery and mail service.
