Friends and family in the La Crosse area gather each year for a memorial trap shoot honoring Aaron Hass, who died in 2021.
The event is tied to the Aaron Hass Memorial Scholarship Fund. In its first five years, the fund has directed $79,000 to local groups.
Recipients have included trap teams at La Crosse Central, Logan and Aquinas high schools, along with Western Technical College, Central High School and other groups that support young people and outdoor activities.
Family members Randy Hass, Drew Hass, Aubrey Hass and Kara Hass helped open this year's event with the first round.
Organizers say the shoot keeps Hass's memory connected to the local shooting community and to the programs he cared about.
